Today’s event was hosted by Potteries Orienteering Club at Park Hall. Detailed results are on the POTOC website; thank you to all the many volunteers who helped the day go very smoothly.
Congratulations to SYO, Harlequins and Wrekin who all qualified for the final this November in the Forest of Dean. Octavian Droobers also went through via the East Midlands heat last month.
A tremendous effort today at Park Hall, we had 42 members, former and non-members who turned out today and we needed everyone. This event was challenging because of difficult car parking, road crossings, and CompassSport rules about how the courses were to be planned and competitors managed. It is extraordinary that a small club like POTOC can field a team like this, it is almost the whole active membership!

Bentley Woods 2nd April – WM Championships and WML
Entries are now open for the 2023 Championships will be held on the 2nd April in Bentley Woods, hosted by Octavian Droobers.

This is also the 3rd event in this year’s West Midlands League.
Wrockwardine Wood, 26th February
The second event in this year’s West Midland League is will be hosted by Wrekin Orienteers at Wrockwardine Wood and Cockshutt Piece in Telford.

2023 Laurie Bradley Score

Organisers courses, Saturday 4 March, Sutton Park
Henry Morgan is holding two courses – a Level C Organisers Course in the morning and an Event Safety and Welfare Workshop in the afternoon. They will take place on Saturday 4th March, at the Sea Ranger hut in Sutton Park. Full details are here, including contact details to book a place with the organiser. They are free to attend for WMOA members.
Wanted! West Midlands League Results Coordinator
Lesley Ross is standing down from this role after many years of sterling work; we are very grateful for all her hard work.
Could you volunteer to take this on? Lesley is happy put together some instructions and / or talk to potential volunteers. You will need a computer with MS Office available, including MS Access. For example, Microsoft 365.
The basic tasks are:
- Set up the League software at the start of the season.
- For each event, you receive a results file from the organising club to be processed by the League software. Some manipulation of the data is needed first.
- The output files of club and individual scores are then sent to the WMOA webmasters to be published.

Laurie Bradley New Year’s Day Score closing date now 28th December.
Wrekin have managed to overcome the map printing and delivery contraints and are therefore able to extend the deadline to 28th December.

Please note that Wrekin now have the use of the Telford Hornets Rugby Club as the event centre, which will provide free parking, toilets, bar and a warm dry place for presentations!
